An Eye to the Ocean

Bermuda's volcanic and wildly textured rocks made this quite an involved painting, trying to get the layered and porous look right. It's a secluded spot, right at the end of Cooper's Island Nature Reserve, near Clearwater beach, in Bermuda. The crystal-clear water of Bermuda was tricky to render too, keeping it slightly green-blue in the shallowest parts and more ultramarine towards the deep ocean at the horizon.
