Not All Who Wander Are Lost

I love knitting in natural textures, and getting to portray a wildflower meadow in this private commission was a joy; I've painted swathes of bluebells and pink heather before, but it's been great to stud this sunny English meadow with yellows, blues and whites.

    Atmosphere is always the challenge when some parts of the scene are invented, but as always I take my inspiration from nature, and part from instinct. From my client's wonderful photograph of this crooked old style, I extended the scene up into a wildflower meadow, and aimed to create a backlit glow without washing out all of the flower detail; to keep it tactile and draw you through to the horizon...
