Carter House Museum, Bermuda
The "Renaissance" of St Davids Exhibit

October 26th - November 8th 2025

Ellie Moore Fine Art Carter House Museum Collection Banner Image.JPG

An island within an island;

Bulldozed coves and lost lilly fields;

A reconnection with nature and community.

A commissioned collection of sixteen miniatures celebrating St Davids Island, Bermuda, curated by museum director Rick Spurling.

St Davids, a thriving independent island community within Bermuda, was deeply affected by the changes wrought during World War II; its people and land are celebrated at Carter House Museum.

Many of these scenes of St Davids were meticulously brought to life from blurry black and white photos before the construction of the runway in 1941; bringing back into sharp focus long-lost forests, bays and ways of life.

And finding the timeless thread between then and now.

Each painting is circa 5.5x7cm before framing. The paintings are displayed alongside words and quotes chosen by Rick Spurling to tell the story of Old St Davids.

All work is for sale to fundraise for the museum (Please note as of 29/10/25 all but three have sold) - please contact the curator for more information.
