'I Went tae Auld Arnside Taur'

A 600 year old ruin looking out to sea on the Cumbrian border between the villages of Silverdale and Arnside, this pele tower is in a precarious state, but still has a kind of Gothic presence with its tumbled walls and ragged tree. The adjacent farmhouse was home to the 18th century writer Ann Wheeler, who secured the local Westmorland dialect through her writings.
