Duomo

The Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore in Italy is magnificent from all angles, and whilst I studied as a teenager in Florence I loved walking round the duomo precinct, and working out how to do justice to this remarkable building in paint. Clad in polychrome marble, with Brunelleschi’s dome arching above, I decided to paint it framed by the night sky - as if cut out of it - and lit from below by the lights of Florence. This is a sentimental piece, and I've only made it available to buy this year.
