Pepo

This carnival squash had such a striking pattern and wonderful waxy texture that I had to put off eating it to paint it! I wanted to capture those colours and the slightly hollow sound it makes when tapped, and couldn't resist giving it a niche to sit in and dramatic lighting. I used a fan brush to give the feathery texture to the outside, building up from warm to cool.
