The Beech Tree Ring Triptych

Three egg tempera miniatures on copper domes, framed in hand-made gold-leaved collars and mounted on beech wood. Quite an experiment for me, this was my first use of egg tempera to make my own paintings, having first tried it for an icon restoration. It started out as a prototype for a piece on gold, and became a three-piece commission with a bespoke frame – never one to make it easy for myself!
