Threshold

I came across this incredible natural symmetry when walking through a Coniston woodland, the wet weather saturating the moss and ferns into vibrant greens. It's easy to feel as though you’re in a Primeval forest when wandering these trails.

I often need to carefully design the compositions of my paintings, but every branch and sapling in this scene was exactly where it should be. Sometimes rendering every leaf individually is the only way to build up the texture and depth that's apparent in person, and this place is so rich in texture that it was the only approach to take, combined with layers of coloured glazes to bring out the depth.
